On 11 October 2011, the Havelländische Eisenbahn AG from Berlin acquired two TRAXX P160 DE locomotives: 246 001 and 010, coming from the rolling stock pool of the LNVG (Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen mbH). Earlier in 2011, the LNVG announced that three of their eleven TRAXX DE locomotives were for sale. After several years of service, the LNVG concluded that eight locomotives are sufficient for their Hamburg-Cuxhaven relation.
