In short

Beacon Rail Leasing was founded as a subsidiary of BTMU Capital Corporation in 2009 and focusses on rolling stock leasing in the United States, Great Britain and the European continent.

When Beacon Rail Leasing was launched, an order was placed for the first six EURO 4000 locomotives. One year later, in 2010, all six units were delivered and leased to CargoNet from Norway. They are homologated for services in Sweden and Norway.

In 2010 four additional locomotives were ordered, which would subsequently come into service for Europorte France. The first two units, designated 4001 and 4002, were originally destined for Angel Trains Cargo, but were delivered to Beacon Rail Leasing on 14 December 2012. On 27 January 2011 also 4003 and 4004, two newly built units, were delivered.

Beacon Rail's EURO 4000 fleet was expanded once again in 2013, when ten locomotives were added to the fleet in two batches. The first six units (E4017 - E4022) had been ordered one year earlier and were leased to VFLI from France. The second batch concerned four locomotives that were acquired from Europorte France through a sale and leaseback construction. They officially joined the fleet on 1 August 2013.

One year later, a second sale-and-leaseback agreement was signed. This time units 4009 - 4012 had their ownership transferred from Europorte to Beacon Rail. The official date on which the locomotives were purchased was August 13, 2014.

Later that year, on December 18, Vossloh and Beacon Rail signed an agreement for the delivery of a further six locomotives for French railfreight operator VFLI. Between April 2016 and September 2016, the locomotives will be delivered, raising the number of EURO 4000 locomotives in Beacon Rail's portfolio to 30.
