In short
In June 2004 Siemens delivered the first EuroRunner to the Steiermärkische Landesbahnen (StLB) from Austria. Originally the locomotive was built as 2016 090 for the ÖBB, but Siemens took this unit out of its batch to make a fast delivery possible. At the StLB the locomotive entered service numbered 2016 901.
The second locomotive, numbered 2016 902, was delivered in the first month of 2005. Unlike 2016 901, this locomotive was specifically built for the StLB. Both locomotives are equipped for both freight and passenger services.
