The JT38CW-DC, as built for the Kosovo Railways, is a heavily modernization of the EMD type G16CW diesel locomotive. In fact, the locomotive has only inherited the Westinghouse L26 breaking system and the bogies with traction motors as requested by the Kosovo Railways.
