Continental Rail S.A. is a Spanish open access freight operator and was founded in May 2000 as a subsidiary of construction company Vias y Construcciones S.A. and maritime service operator Dragados S.P.L.
Seven years later, in 2007, the company ordered its first Vossloh EURO 4000 locomotives. The first unit was spotted in service in November 2008, while the last of the batch was delivered in the summer of 2009.
