The first Crossrail Benelux Class 66 locomotive to be fitted with ETCS Level 2 equipment was PB 14. In 2014 work started on the locomotive, which acted as a prototype for the series installation of ten locomotives in total. Now, work on a second locomotive has started as well: PB 03

Because Crossrail has less locomotives available as long as the ETCS project is in process, replacement locos are used to compensate for this. For this reason, Ascendos PB 08 and 29002 are now operated by the Belgian operator.
