At the InnoTrans trade fair, the Siemens Vectron DE was officially granted approval for the German railway network by EBA. Furthermore, Siemens received a certificate from TÜV SÜD Rail that proves that the diesel-electric version of the Vectron platform complies with TSI requirements. More specifically, the locomotive type now complies with TSI CR LOC & PAS (starting point for further country approvals), TSI SRT (safety in railway tunnels) and TSI Noise.

Having already been certified for use as a freight locomotive, the locomotive is expected to achieve certification for use a passenger locomotive within the next year.
